If you’re not suitable for laser eye surgery you may have been given the option of different types of permanent lenses. Generally, the most common types of permanent lenses are intraocular lenses and Phakic iol lenses. When intraocular lenses are implanted, the original lens of the eye is removed. However phakic iols work in combination with the existing lens rather than having it removed. Phakic lenses are also designed to be in the eye permanently, though can be removed if necessary. Phakic lenses have a high success rate with patients reporting vast improvements in their vision shortly after their surgery.
